As mentioned before, slow (SLOOOOW...) heating with a propane torch or heat gun (not a hair dryer...not hot enough) will render it soft enough to bend. If you want a perfect circle, you should use something round to form it around.
If you want to join it from the inside, cut a piece about 2 inches long of the same size pipe you're working with. Cut about 1/2" out of it lengthwise (so if you look at the end it now makes a "C" instead of an "O"). After you've formed the circle, heat the small piece and squeeze it together (making a smaller "O" now) to get it to fit inside the ends of the circle...you may have to cut a little extra away if 1/2" isn't enough. You should do this while its still warm and pliable. Once you know it'll fit and is snug, pull the ends apart so that only about 1/2" of your little piece is inside each end. Apply the PVC solvent all around the small piece between the two ends and squeeze the ends together so they join. You will need a second person to wipe the extra solvent up as you're holding the ends together letting the solvent set up (about half a minute)

What are you trying to hold together, the ends of the pipe? Normally you would use a piece called a coupling that slips over the outside of the pipe to join them together.
To bend your pvc pipe, I would suggest using a heat gun, and apply the heat overlapping sections. It will be easier with two or three people, and easier if you have something round that is the same diameter as you want to make your pvc. Work slowly so that you get a good even bend.

Depending on the diameter of the pvc pipe & how long it is you might be able to heat the pipe up with a propane torch. Soften it up so you can slowly bend it around another sturdy object outside,ie;(metal fence post). If not find a local electrition to put it in thier heater box (a box like a electric heater which they use to bend pvc pipe. Good Luck.

I made a few of those candy cane lane markers for christmas using sand to fill the pipe then heating it up with a paint stripper heat gun and using a coffie can as my mould. The sand keept the cane from melting as I heated it.
