THE RECOVERYThe typical convalescence following brow lift surgery is approximately 2-3 weeks. A compression bandage or garment is often used in the early post-operative period. Early post-operative pain is controlled with prescription medications for the first few days. Most patients require only over-the-counter medications or are comfortable without pain medication within days of the procedure. Bruising and swelling of the forehead and around the eyes is normal after these procedures and swelling becomes greatest within 3-4 days after the procedure. Remember that this is a normal part of recovery and disappears within 2-3 weeks of the procedure.

COMPLICATIONSA discussion of potential complications is essential with every discussion about a surgical procedure. It is important to know that although complications from surgery are possible they are not common and it is for this reason that plastic surgeons continue to offer aesthetic surgical procedures. Some possible complications associated with a brow lift are listed into both early and late complications:

EARLY
Bleeding
Hematoma (blood collection)
Infection
Temporary nerve injury
Permanent nerve injury
LATE
Unacceptable scars
Loss of hair at scar sites (alopecia)
Asymmetry (between sides)
Hairline elevation
