The plane ride will be fine... long... but, fine. Bring things to keep your son entertained and possibly any snacks he may need durring the flight. Get up and walk around on the plane as much as you can, sit back and enjoy a movie, music, or a book. There's no reason to worry about the flight just think of all the people who fly everyday with no problems. Also you know your flight will be long so if your worried about the anxiety on the plane and your BF can handle watching your son than stay awake all night before your flight and then take some nyquil before you get on the plane. This way you will sleep right through most of your very long flight and never even have to experience the anxiety. But seriously you'll be fine. Bring something to keep you busy and you will get lost in what your doing and not notice the anxiety either. If you really can't handle it talk to your doctor who may prescribe a medication which can help with anxiety just for a short term use for travel. I've been on the long flight when I had two infants so believe me you have nothing to worry about! Although I'm not sure you know this but your BF and you will have to have seperate rooms. Only married couples with a copy of their marriage certificate can share a room. You can do kind of fakey marriage in egypt. It's basically a marriage that says your married but is not recognized by the government as a real marrige per say. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

Egypt is a wonderful country that is very friendly, the Egyptian's love children and you and your family will have a wonderful time. It is a very safe place to travel and there are tourist police everywhere. it is a bit unnerving seeing soldiers armed with machine guns at all the corners but once you realize that they are there for your protection you will relax.( not that anything will happen, it is just that Egypt still has the draft for military service and they have to do something with them.) Egyptian food is good and cheap but there are also plenty of McDonalds and Pizza Huts in Cairo and Alexandria if your son has a big mac attack.
There is a lot to see and do including an amusement park in Cairo. Keep in mind that at this time of year it is really hot so wear cool clothing that covers your arms and legs to prevent sunburn. (Also it is best to dress modestly since it is an Arabic country.) Stay well hydrated with bottled water, since although the water in Egypt is ok to drink it may not agree with you and the bottled tastes better anyway. Most important of all- Relax and have fun. Egypt is an amazing country with history, friendly people, great shopping( you are expected to bargain in the souks) and it will be a memory to cherish forever. also if you are nervous your son will be too and that will just make it harder.
Have Fun!

Chill out and enjoy! It's a delightful experience as long as you accept the ordinary nuisances. It's fun to dine, sight see and shop. Egyptians are outgoing, helpful and friendly. They would never leave a tourist in the lurch. Do take the Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan. A 'monumental' experience.
One of my all time favorite memories is having a "sun downer" on the veranda of the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan.
Really, relax and enjoy!

My opinion, "Sit back and have your favorite meal with your son.
Praise him for his behavior abroad. Each of you take agood hot bath, shut the phone off, say a little prayer." RELAX!!!!!!!!!
You both had a wonderful experience and a learned experience.
PRICELESS
