Every time I turn on the evening news, he amazes me with his ability to act like a moron. How did this guy get reelected? Was it simply sypmathy vote or what? I can't understand how any N.O. resident could have pulled a lever for this guy. Anybody from that part of the world, please respond and explain it to me?

As you can read in my question, I DON'T LIKE HIM! And, obviously, he's not an idiot based on the responses below.

In any disaster people's first inclination is to "stay the course" and don't make changes. It is believed that a new person has too much to learn in the job and will set back the timeline for fixing the problem.

Unfortunately for New orleans they reelected the peson who created the problem in the first place. He spent the hurricane "off season" by focusing all of his efforst on getting reelected. The city still has no evacuation plan. The city still has no viable shelter plan. The city has only received 1/3 of the grant and loan money offered because he hasn't requested the money yet.

He was incompetent before the disaster. He caused the deaths of hundreds by waiting too long to order a mandatory evacuation (2 days after Mississippi did), he caused the deaths of thousands by assuring the federal government that the levees would hold.

Now he's blaming the government for his incompetence for not requesting allocated funds. He wants a lump sum check to be used at his discretion. Fortunately FEMA and the federal government recognize his inability to lead and are withholding funds subject to a spending plan.

It wasn't a sympathy vote because he was re-elected to finish what he had started to do once Katrina passed and people were coming back to observe the damage done. It's your imagination that he's an idiot, or do you only reserve that claim of yours to a politician who is black and a democrat? Plus, I can think of a few idiots right now, President Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Tom Tancredo, etc. and it's practically easy to tell that they are idiots anyway. Do you think he's a moron because of what he said about turning the city back into a chocolate city(when he was referring to the African American contributions to the culture and history of the city) and when he compared the relief that NYC got when 9-11 happened to the slow response that New Orleans got after Katrina hit and left widespread destruction in its path?

He's no idiot at all, only the President and some of his cronies are idiots.

i've got self assurance this develop right into a connection with Mr. Landrieu's political allegiances. whilst the two applicants are democrats, the Nagin campaign has made valid factors that Landrieu's stance is plenty closer to Republican on many subject concerns. Blue = democrat purple = republican And in the experience that your god is so petty that he will flood an entire city because of the fact he thinks the every physique is all sinners, then your god looks like no one i could elect to have self assurance in. playstation = the term "Chocolate city" isn't a racist term. that's a term coined interior the 1970's, fairly which skill Washington DC, and develop right into a manner that citizens of a predominantly African-American city with an African-American mayor expressed their satisfaction.

Apparently not being a moron isn't a prerequisite to become a politician.
