Ok, I did this yesterday (not real sure what I am doing - new at this) but here's the thing. I have a 3 disk cd player. It tells me that there is "no disk" for slots 2 & 3. It does this with a burned disk as well as a store bought disk. I've cleaned it and still no difference. The thing that really makes me mad is I have 3 totally different players and in all of them the radio and the cassette players work but the cd player doesn't!! What's up with that. Does anyone recomend a certain kind of cleaner? Maybe what I am using is not so good. I have a cleaning disk that has littel brushes on it. Frannnie

Is your CD player by any chance a Sharp? If so I had the same problem you having right now. CD's in there and still nothin showing up. For me I have no store bought CD's, all burnt but I kno for sure it wasnt the case. For you it might be though depending on how old it is. The best way to solve this is just open up the CD tray with the CD still on it and close it back up and hit play to see if it reads it again. Its stupid, cuz sometimes it'll read and notice it and other times its like nothin is in the tray. I dont kno, all I kno is that I have my second Sharp CD player and I will never by another Sharp again. The speakers sucks and the system sucks to.
