You must remember that up until the mid 20th century, for millions of years, birth control didn't exist. If a young woman had sex, she got pregnant. If she got pregnant before she was married, it meant there was no husband to care for her and the children (at a time when women didn't work outside the home and couldn't support themselves). The kids became a burden on society, with the women often turning to prostitution to feed them.
Also, before the invention of penicillin, venereal diseases such as syphilis were widespread and deadly. Left unchecked, in a society where premarital and/or extramarital sex was the norm, these diseases could have devastated a community. The only way to prevent them was not to have sex, or to have sex in an exclusive relationship with another virgin.
Staying chaste until marriage wasn't just a religious/moral thing. It was a practical necessity.
The birth control pill, the condom, women working outside the home, and antibiotics have changed much of that. But those long-lived ideas of what is right & wrong are harder to change.
And even though many of the more lethal consequences have been eliminated, we still get tragic stories of girls seduced & abandoned, children growing up not knowing their fathers, people dying of AIDS, etc. So sex is not simply the harmless recreational sport that some would like to consider it. It's still a very serious game.

issues over sex are almost always traced to religious belief systems. these systems were created in effort to control a population's behavior. so these religious leaders instill a fear of hell or godly retribution for "sins". primarily, the goal was to control the body--the physical body--of the people. restrict what they are allowed to eat, with whom and when they are allowed to have sex, and what they are allowed to do for a living or entertainment. people who break these "rules" run the risk of being ostracized or exiled from society, in addition to fearing "eternity."
sexuality, and especially a fear of women's getting out from under the thumb of religious leadership, is a primary issue of control. creating guilt and fear is a great way to control a population. so... you can see the motivation behind all that crap, no?
(in part, it all came from a need for men to be able to control where their babies came from--those kids better be daddy's, otherwise he's working his butt off to support someone else's offspring. the more women are considered the property of their husbands, either by law or just custom, then the harsher the prohibitions against sex.)

its because the religions of the world said it was wrong and the "badness/wrongness" about it has kinda stuck. There is nothing wrong with sex. It is a completely natural thing between two people. Its simply a biological function...which happens to be fun too!

Sometimes when people are a little bit frigid toward sex, it could be because they haven't had a GOOD partner.
But also because people are starting younger and younger and with the rate of teen pregnancy and STD's, it's frowned upon also. In the sexual revolution, sometimes so much of it is shoved into our eyes and ears everyday, we just get sick of it.

Sex is not a necessity, we can live without. Believe me I hated having sex, because all me experiences suck. But then I met my husband and now I enjoy every minute of it. If sex is bad, people live without it, if they get something good, it is hard to give it up, but it can be done.

hi
i think you are pretty open minded.
why call yourself a nasty sex maniac?
sex is part of life - it is not some "nasty little thing" and should be enjoyed.
to all the STD answers - never state the obvious. we all know the hazards.
MOTTO: no glove, no love
and away you go.
Enjoy

Sex is not bad. It's just the way people use it that makes it bad. Like, having sex with a boyfriend/ girlfriend that you're not even married wto, or having sex with a prostitute. But if you're married, then I think you can have sex all you want with your spouse.

Probably from Bad experiences, religious beliefs, and brainwashing. If they're told sex is bad from the time they are children, all the way through adult hood, then they believe it.

Because you have to understand that with everything there are right ways and wrong ways to do it. You do it the wrong way so naturally you are experiencing a lot of people telling you that you are a terrible lover. It's ruff but you can improve if you want to.

Man made religions, judging humanity with their narrow minded view of what THEY think is right or wrong and imposing it on everyone else. Puritan Ethics.
