Actually, i read days ago that scientists defined that the EGG was first. And the reason for that is that if we believe in evolutionism, obviously, then the first animal with the features that we know as a chicken was a chicken since it was on the egg. To be a chicken born from an animal different than a chicken(cause then were no chickens...) it had to be the result of a mutation in the chromosomes of the sexual cells of the progenitors(one or both).... so their little mutant baby egg was the first chicken.
