Should an expert in obtaining national and EU grants be called "grant consultant", "grant advisor", "consultant in grant funding" or "advisor in grant funding". What is the difference between advisor and consultant anyway?

Advisor - identifies your options and does not recommend what you should do

Consultant - you present them with a scenario and they recommend and usually work on the best solution to solve eg your business IT problems.

Also, as someone else said, consultants get more money, mainly because they are much more liable to being persued by their clients for giving the wrong advice and carrying through the work.

A consultant is usually compensated in a particular non legal area. Specifically, a lawyer is a legal adviser. Generally, an advocate is an unpaid mentor. The meaning of solicitor has a much more formal meaning outside the United States. Mainly in Britain, a solicitor is not a member of the bar and may only plead in the lower level courts. A barrister is a member of the bar and may plead cases in the upper courts/

Advisor can only advise you how to fill a form especially grant, tax and emigration forms. these are forms you would normally be expected to fill in yourself. However you can pay someone to advise you in which case the guidlines for filling the forms will be explained to you and you fill it in with your own hands.
Consultants like mortage consultants actually choose the best mortgage based on how you explained your needs. You havent got a clue about a mortgage while a mortgage consultan knows hundreds of different types of mortgages. A medical consultant can also make a decision on how to treat your ailments but you are expected to sign a consent form.

Only my opinion but here goes. An Advisor advises only, from their you take the ball and run with it.

A Consultant advises, comes up with a game plan and helpsyou carry the ball to the end result that you want.
