Technically, anything could trigger an asthmatic attack. Asthma is an inflammatory disease. Everyone has an immune system which fights off foreign bodies. The latter includes viruses, bacteria, noxious fumes, pollen...etc. However, asthmatic patient have an overactive reaction to certain foreign bodies. Working through several chemical messengers in the body, the airway constricts making it hard to breathe. During an asthmatic attack, patients have a characteristic wheezing sound as they try to breathe. Different asthmatics have different "triggers" ( irritants leading to an asthma attack). Some has exercised induced asthma while others have an asthmatic attack when exposed to cold air (i.e. Winter season). It seems in your case, chlorine is one of your triggers - which is not unusual since chlorine irritates the lungs regardless if you have asthma or not.

Yes, It can effect a person with out asthma as well. It would be best to all ow the water to sit in the hot tub heated for a few hours prior to trying it. If possible open a window and put a fan in it to ventilate the fumes.
If you are an asthma person NEVER go in the hot tub when you are alone. At least have some one sitting near the tub to talk to.
Just in case you have trouble breathing and can't talk or yell for help.

Yes.
There are so many different irritants and they all have different degrees of affect on people.
Chlorine is one of these and also the sudden changes in temperature from getting in and out of a hot tub can bring on asthma symptoms.

You bet. Any strong chemical odour or scent or irritant like smoke/pollution/fumes etc. can trigger an asthma attack.
Some people are so sensitive that smoke on your clothing is enough to set off an asthma attack. So avoid people who smoke too.
