The cleanup has gone well everywhere but NO. They have no plan, EVERYDAY someone is arrested for fraud with the relief money and basically the whole thing is a mess.
NOLA re-elected the idiot who got them in trouble. It is a complete joke and a waste of American dollars.
Texas. MS and FL were all hit by cat 3's last year. Not a single one of them is pointing fingers and blaming the Fed for the problems, why is that? Why can FL, MS and TX evacuate everyone before the storm hits and NOLA leaders run off to TX to shop for a new house. It is criminal, no doubt.

I don't think it has, because there are millions of people who still do not have a home to go back to, I know it takes a long time to rebuild, but many of these poor people haven't received any aide they were promised by the government to even start the rebuilding process. Money talks and if you are in good with the people in higher offices of government the quicker you will get your home and life back, but for those poor people that were stuck in the flood waters and the filth, they are looked upon as second class citizens because they don't have the money to pay for re-election of a someone who is suppose to be looking out for the citizens of their state.

I really don't understand what you'r point is. I was not directly effected by Hurricane Katrina. However I do live in Northwest Florida and was directly effected by Hurricane's Ivan and Dennis. Hurricane Ivan hit at high tide and pretty much washed away our entire street. Anyway, you pick yourself's up by the bootstraps, rebuild or move on. It's a choice, make it and get over it. It's not the government's responsibility to hold my hand every step of the way.

Most of the people down in New Orleans are NOT waiting around for FEMA or any other so called helping agency to get their collective heads outta their butts. I just watched a 2-day Dr. Phil show as well as one by Brian Williams from NBC's Evening news, both showing that things aren't going well down there at all. So many houses are still stitting damaged. Cars are piled upon houses or upon other cars. People are living without basic needs, power, water, gas, food. Some live in those crappy FEMA trailers wedged wherever they can put one. It's sad that the monies FEMA & the other agencies are sitting on aren't being given to people who desperately need it. FEMA's lies are the same, they won't hand out anymore funding due to the ongoing fraud investigations. FEMA wouldn't even help several people Dr. Phil talked to until he twisted their proverbial arms! It made me ill to watch how badly this all's being handled. Brian Williams spoke of going almost 3 days BEFORE any type of help came along. He'd emailed a picture of inside the Superdome to NBC's Today show. The FEMA liars claimed they just found out. BULLSHIT. What a crock of lies.
Another reporter sat on Oprah & stated that the mayor of New Orleans was offered a 1000 passenger Amtrak train. It was declined, stating it's not needed. NOT NEEDED?! YOU'RE KIDDING ME, RIGHT?! WRONG!!!
I know for almost a certain fact that if this had happened to a different state with Caucasian folks, help wouldn't have been delayed. SAD SAD SAD!! Those people were homeowners! Most worked! Black? SO WHAT! They're still people & HUMANS. Bush's lack of help, his lack of urgency, FEMA's lies all are just sickening. I can hardly wait til Bushwhacker Jr is out of office.

I have been working in MS and N.O. (hurricane related from debris to water and utility services) and until you have lifted one finger in helping go back to the comfort of your mommy. I am tired of these idiots running off at the mouth and don't know what is really going on down here!!!!! Keep blaming Bush and just stay there sitting on your welfare a*s and don't help. But I have seen a lot of people who care and party affiliation, color, sex, religion, it doesn't matter.

Everyone, I think that he was being sarcastic. It hasn't gone well, the insurance companies and big corporations ripped everyone off except for the government. This situation just epitomizes the real war that is going on in this country: poor and middle income vs. the rich and powerful. Wake up America.

I think a lot of the problem in N.O. is that the people can't pick up a shovel themselves or through the trash out of their own lawn. They are always waiting for others to do things for them as we saw a year ago. People wouldn't leave their houses, etc. So in short step up or shut up.
