I saw on the news a man was being charged for the murder of his son and an attempt to commit suicide? Is it really illegal?

Yes, it is illegal and so it should be. I once heard some **** from The Samaritans trying to tell us that suicide is a very private thing. Well, I can tell you that it is not. Some poor sod has to clean up the mess afterwards and it traumatises people who witness it - including young children. A good friend of mine had to give up his job as a train driver because two gutless bastards didn't have the decency to jump off a cross-Channel ferry.

I think its if you try and involve someone else in your suicide. No one I've ever known has been charged with attempted suicide, and I've known a few attemptees.
Moral of the story: don't tell your already manic depressive husband that your going to leave him when you get back from holiday. I think the wife should be charged with something too.

Well... he will be charged for attempt to murder son. No he will not be charged for attempted suicide. If he attempts suicide he will be locked away in a ward for a while. But I havent saw anyone go to jail for it. You must talk with a psychiatrist and they will put you in a mental institute for awhile.

It is not illegal to attempt suicide unless that attempt causes danger to some other person. For example: Jumping in front of a bus and causing a wreck would probably be breaking the law (disorderly conduct - something like that). Brandishing a firearm in a threatening manner is also against the law.

The man in question your on about was allegedly drunk and he jumped off a balcony with both his son and daughter, his daughter survived and so did the father but unfortunately his son died. That is why he is being charged with murder not because of him commiting suicide.

Attempting suicide is illegal in some countries, committing suicide isn't for obvious reasons, it's one of those laws in the book of statutes that's rarely enforced (we covered these in sociology) But it is kept on to protect people in this country, if you are charged with it, the police have the right to have you sectioned under the mental health act of 1983.
ttfn ;o)

Actually he did not try to kill himself he was drunk and was not thinking logically but i to get to the point in britian it's a criminal offence not illegal, in america and some other countries i think it is illegal.
And the reason he's being charged for the suicide maybe because it's a criminal offence
