I'm with MetallicaRule. If you haven't seen them, I'd start with 4-6 then go back and watch 1-3. If you watch them straight through, it will ruin some of the surprises. If you don't know which is which in terms of numbers, here's the order I'd suggest:

Star Wars: A New Hope (4)
Empire Strikes Back (5)
Return of the Jedi (6)
Phantom Menace (1)
Attack of the Clones (2)
Revenge of the Sith (3)

Also, the original versions of 4-6 are way better than the new versions...don't know why Lucas thought the changes were a good idea. What an idiot!

In a way the story is different - your focal point is on Luke Skywalker if you watch them 4-6 1-3 and a different character if you watch 1-6.

Both actually have their benefits - the big "Star Wars twist" is effectively ruined if you watch 1-6, but at the same time there's a much more emotional context to the story.

I've actually seen some people suggesting watching 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6.

I would recommend watching them in the order in which they were released. The rest of the world experienced them this way. Even though it's not chronologically correct, you need to see the "classics" first before seeing the "follow-up" movies.

Also, if you don't like the newest ones, give Lucas a break. it was almost 30 years after the last 3, and he didn't have exactly the same people helping him. They're really good, though.

May the Force be with you!

If you have all the episodes, then if you apply simple math, then you should start at 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5... and guess what comes after 5?

If you're talking how it was released, it was 4,5,6 (oh, I gave the answer for previous question away) and then 1,2,3.

Since they're all released now, why would you still want to watch it backwards?

the unique order: favorite man or woman Wars: Episode IV - a sparkling desire favorite man or woman Wars: Episode V - The Empire strikes lower back favorite man or woman Wars: Episode VI - go back of the Jedi favorite man or woman Wars: Episode I - The Phantom chance favorite man or woman Wars: Episode II - attack of the Clones favorite man or woman Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith because that's the point, in case you've been meant to visual demonstrate unit them in the chronolical order, then Lucas ought to have made them that way.
