A postman has been threatened with the sack because he told people how to stop recieving junk mail !

Should he be sacked or compensated ?

Personally i think all junk mail should offer the recipient the oppurtunity to return to sender at the senders expense .

I do return all my junk mail to sender. I wish everybody did that. If everyone in UK returned the junk mail we'd save thousands of trees a day...

I abstain.
The companies that send junk mail are trying to advertise themselves and wish to have a succesful business, yet at the same time a lot of it is scams and unwanted mail.
He should be neither sacked nor compensated.

The postman should be given a medal for services to mankind! Lets start a petition! Save the only human postman in Britain! I HATE ALL THE CRAP THAT COMES THROUGH THE DOOR! Its a waste of paper it goes straight in my bin. Save the environment

You can simply post all unwanted mail back in the Post Boxes with 'Unwanted on it. It goes back to them and usually you are taken off the list if you write you would like to be so on it. No expense to the recipient at all

He should be compensated. Turns out the Royal Mail have a thing where you can opt out of non-addressed mail (ie stuff to the occupier) but don't seem to have told anyone about it.

email: optout@royalmail.com
