Typically the graves are 6 feet, the casket and vault together are approximately 3 feet, so there is 3 feet of dirt on the vault, not 6 like someone else said. Also, there hasn't been any graverobbing for a good number of years. When they stack them, they usually dig down 10 feet. The vaults are either double-depth (designed to hold 2 caskets) or the vaults are stacked directly on topof each other. Hope this helps!

It is normally dug out about 5-6 feet, then they put in the cement vault, so the casket sits at about 4 1/2 feet . They can stack one casket on top of another. That is usually done with a mother & child, or husband & wife situation.

Normally, it's 6 feet (as told in the famous phrase : 6 feet under)

but there always are exceptions, and most of the time, the reason is that there are some other people right down the plot so you can not dig more
