YES!!!!!!!!! I have had that problem before. My periods would last for up to 2 months straight!!
The doctor diagnosed me with PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) after YEARS of insisting something is wrong.
Finally, after seeing I don't know HOW MANY doctors, one sent me to an OB/GYN who did one blood test (yes, JUST ONE blood test is all it took to find an imbalance in my hormones). Lo and behold!! Keeping in mind that ultrasounds, and other blood tests were done to figure out the problem with nothing to show for it.
Keep insisting!! It could be a number of things such as fibroids, cysts (tho not too common to make it last that long...normally cysts will make the period stop...but not in my case)
It's your body and you know that something is wrong...your doctor doesn't know unless he/she does what's neccessary to find out what's wrong with your body.
good luck

Are you on birthcontrol? I think of this because it helped me~
I had a seven month spotting episode.....................................
when i was eighteen and finally decided i was ready to start dating and lost my, well anyhow, yeah, on the Depo shot seven months, i was so Anemic, i passed out when i stood up in the dining room at dinner my mom freaked out, it was bad.
i was taken off of it right away, but had never been regular since.
It has been eight years, and now i have a IUD, and i don't even have any period. It's pretty nice!If you want to not get pregnant, it's a thought to get regular,it really has helped me.
Look into birth controls that have hormones, my IUD has progesterone in it, it's called a MIRENA, lasts for 5 yrs, i never feel it. I had cramps at first, but now i don't even know it's there!
I love it! Just a thought, best of luck to you. I know how miserable and expensive female problems are on daily life, especially in the summer...
I also want to add that getting another doctor can help. I have had many problems in this area, and getting a second opinion is best.
Just make sure that things are checked right.
I have lost two babies and one ovary from things being over looked, make sure that things feel like they are in order.
Best wishes.

I never go longer than 4-5 days, somethings got to be wrong for a woman to be seeing her period so often and for so long I would get a 2nd opinion preferably from a female GYNO.

Hoe old are you? This is happening when women go through pri-menopause. If you are not in that stage of life than you definitely need a second opinion!

Depends on your age.If you're young, stress and diets can cause irregular periods, also fibroids can do this. If you're older, maybe it's leading up to the change, but ask to see another doctor

Hmmm, my gyno said that as you age that your period will change, maybe get longer or shorter. Have you changed your diet, that can have an impact.

Sounds like peri-menopausal symptoms to me. You got the insomnia and hot flashes yet?

It depends on how old you are. If you are an older person it could be as a result of menopause coming on.

It doesn't sound fine to me.
Of course, if you are under stress it can make periods do strange things.
