I am planning on going back to Edinburgh for a vacation and would like to know the best time of the year to visit. The last time I went was in March and it was a bit chilly. Any ideas?

Well good 4 you. That Ur going 2 Scotland!

Well let me tell you that the best time to visit Edinburgh & other Scottish cities is in SEP/Mid Oct. & let me tell u why!

1- LOW airfares.

2- Very low hotel-room prices! Away cheap than in July & August (Tourist Season)

3- You get to see Scotland more comfortably & there are very less tourists crowds, as not many tourists visit in these months its only the Tourist months (JULY/AUG) & (DEC/Mid JAN) that u see the Edinburgh packed!

4- Don’t forget to drink the famous Scottish whiskies... & eat the Fish N' Chips... they r pretty good & also very scottish.

But remember... the Scots & the Brits don’t like GW Bush so
don’t talk much about U.S.(except the hot & cool stuff in NYC, Miami & L.A.)

5- Remember to get your US dollar converted into the
UK Pounds, Cause when in U.S. you will get a very good exchange rate for your dollar... as in UK... the UK pound is more expensive if exchanging dollars as many Currency Exchanges, charge you a 3% commission on your exchange for Pounds.

6- Remember! Withdrawing cash from an ATM using Ur Amex or any other Credit or debit cards can be expensive... as the withdrawal charges are very high. Check with your bank for more information on CASH withdrawal in UK from an ATM.

Hi

August is the best time, real buzz about the city and so much to see with the Festival going on, you will also get some good weather ( although it's raining here today ! ) .

I would book accomodation well in advance, near Princess Street is recommended.

If you want to be able to stay in a hotel DO NOT go during August. that is when they have the fringe fest. It's the worldest largest art festival and it goes on all month. It is impossible to get a room.
