Why should we? Sure he's ruining Venezuela and exporting revolution to his neighbors, but isn't it about time those countries stood up for themselves?
Also, I personally feel that the Venezuelan people really, really need to suffer for a long time under Chavez. It would help them and other Latinos finally recognize how stupid it is to vote in marxist thugs.

Currently we daily import from Venezuela more than 1,000,000 barrels of oil.
Chavez was elected in a "democratic" process.
Chavez has gone on record as saying that the oil is a geopolitical weapon but has also tried to mend the fence with the US.
He does have a big mouth but there is nothing we can do about it, nor should we, remember we allow free speech for our citizens and therefore certainly he has the right to say what he wants even though not protected under our constitution.
I think we should do nothing except try to get along. We need his oil and he wants our dollars, which is the way things should work in the world.

Chavez likes to call Bush "Mr Danger". I don't like that name because it makes Bush sound heroic.
What gave the US the idea that we have the legal and moral right to invade any country we wish and install any form of government we wish? If the US was involved in the failed coupe to oust Chavez then he is justified in calling Bush every name in the book. What right do we have to meddle in their internal affairs and oust a democratically elected president? I thought we were trying to promote democracy. Chavez is narcissist but he is Venezuela's problem until and unless he makes a belligerent move towards the US. I don't care what Pat Robertson says.

What ?Bomb Venezuela too?
It seems US is doing something about him:"report from the Associated Press news agency earlier in the week says that millions of dollars in US aid were flowing to secret programmes that support Venezuelan opposition groups"

as far as i am concerned we are not doing anything about Mr. Chavez. I actually pity the poor dumb **s. By God, I do.
But then, do i, or the general public for that matter, need to know what the US is doing about Mr. Chavez? Probably not.
I wouldn't be surprised if the US already has a plan for Mr. Chavez.

I hate him too. I had a friend of mine who was to be transfered to work here in Miami and sponsored by her employer,an oil company from Chicago. Then Chavez got on his,"I want to be president for life" kick and ruined it when the oil company laid off it's workers and left the country. Where's a sniper when you need one, lol?

Because he is no threat to the USA and is making himself so much like a comedy version of Castro that he is destroying his own credibility.
Behind all the rhetoric trade is still doing nicely and everything is cool.

I'm sure we will be handling him within 10 years. The battle field will probably be Cuba. When it's all over, he'll be either dead or sharing a bunk with Noriega.

He's a democratically elected leader who is doing what is best for Venezuela. Do you want the US to sponsor a right-wing military coup to oust him from power, as they did numerous times before to other Central/South American countries?

The US doesn't want to make him a martyr. Which is what happens if they kill/coup him. Then his ideals become adopted by the local populace, and then you have a real problem.
