What would you think of the NFL buying the CFL and changing it a bit? What rules would you combine on to make it work? 3 or 4 downs, bigger field or smaller field, import rule or no, expansion to the US again?
Let me know what you think!

It's a little known secret that the CFL will survive.

The CFL has had challenges for the past 80 years, but still in business.....The NFL is not interested, and our cities are too small for the NFL...change the rules? Why? 3 downs are much more exciting than 4 downs...its too easy to make 10 yards in 4 downs...the end zone in NFL is small, and I would like to see that in the CFL..I like our longer field, but the narrower field in the NFL makes for more excitement...the fair catch in the NFL sucks....Canada has a good game, probably best to leave it alone...there should be more inter- mural sports at high shcool level in Canada and schools need to show more interest in football training...the young men now look gaunt and weak, shoulders slooping and heads hanging low..I dont get the younger people nowadays...

Survive? It's doing OK. Where did you get the idea it was financially in trouble bar the idiotic Gliebermanns in Ottawa?

Well, NFL Europe sucks so no thank you as they'd turn the CFL into some boring feeder league.
I prefer 3-down football and bigger field. Game is more wide open.
Import rule could be tweaked but there ALWAYS should be room for Canadians unless the No Fun League wants to come up with an import rule.
Expansion to the U.S.-no thank you., That was a HUGE mistake last time.

They should move all the clubs to Saskatchewan and rename them some variation of Rough-Riders. Like the Regina Ruffriders vs. ... wait I have a better Idea. Move them all but one to Saskatchewan, and the other to Tuktuyuktuk. Who needs 4 downs when you can run on the frozen tundra, which can't be harder then the so called turf in Hamilton. All kidding aside they should sign the two Jessie's and give them enough money to stay for a couple of years. Two good Canadian boys playing well in that league would help bring in the younger generation, and new fans, which is what the CFL really needs to survive. Else move them all to Saskatchewan where they seem to actually care about football.

I think expansion into the US would be a good idea but I would expand to cities where having a summer league would actually work. Say Philadelphia (the Stars of the Old USFL sold out) New York, Chicago, and maybe Boston. These are big city that could support a football team and allow the CFL to bring in some much needed revenue. I would also change some of the rules to convert to the NFL this would allow a possible merger with the NFL in the future which would be a cash cow for the CFL.

First of all they have to become more stable. Then they have to protect their players so that the players stay in the cfl longer and give them a chance to remain with one team. If you were to walk into a sports store wanting a CFL jersey, you would be hard pressed to invest the $75-$100 on a players' jersey if he is only going to be around for a couple of years at most. That most of all, creating an identity within the league and amongst the players, is the biggest improving point to begin and end with.

I don't see why the NFL would want to subsidize the CFL when they don't have to. The CFL develops players for the NFL at zero cost to the NFL, so the status quo suits the NFL just fine. The NFL and the CFL have an agreement that they will not poach each other's turf, so there will be no CFL teams in the US and vise-versa. The CFL is likely to keep on keeping on, just as it is. As long as there are rich men who enjoy owning pro-sports franchises as a hobby, even perpetually money-losing pro-sports franchises will survive.

Wouldn't work because Americans wouldn't watch the games. Who would want to watch the crappy CFL anyways ???? I can't stand watching the Canadian sports media here becasue they keep raving and ranting about how all these players are amazing and star caliber. But you know what ??? None of them could make an NFL cut. The media kept raving about how Jesse Lumsden was in try-outs for the Seattle Seahawks last year, but you know what??? He NEVER MADE THE CUT!!! Now he tried this yer to make it in Washington but failed again. Then we give him a great welcome home greeting when he returns to the CFL ???? If these guys are supposed to be amazing, then I feel like puking right now. The whole CFL sucks because none of them have talent. All these hyped "Stars" would get their @$$es kicked in the NFL. It just plaine sickens me to hear about the CFL. I hate the Canadian sports media. I'm so unfortunate to be stuck living in Canada. HELP ME,,, SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!
Go NFL !!!

Hi..

the C.F.L. is it's own , unique brand of football, and a proving ground, on a bigger scale, than N.F.L. Europe and the Arena Football league.

Also, what no one has failed to mention, is that THE N.FL. has a 4-YEAR working agreement, with the N.F.L. negotiated by Commissioners Tagliabue, and Wright, where the N.F.L. pays a year stipend of $1 million dollars per year to the C.FL. with agreement rights on players. One of the biggest benefactors to this agreement was Casey Priniters, now of the KC Chiefs. The three down, passing game of the C.F.L. offers the Americans and Candians alike, a different brand of football. An, arena-football league game, outside, if you will.

The C.F.L. needs to do a better job of marketing its product to the States, with better television coverage and it needs to look to better financial backing in their league cities. Also, it needs to do a better job at marketing its merchandise, and expanding its rosters to include more, imports and a bigger roster. Say what you will, but, imports are more skilled than their canadian brothers at playing football at this stage. Thus, if you want to make your game more exciting, bring in more imports, and get the Montreal Franchise out of Molson Stadium and its 20,000 seats and back to the Olympic dome where more revenue can generate full time.

Right now I don't see Much Changing in the CFL.

The only way I see the CFL closing its doors is if Toronto loses its team.

That may happen if Toronto gets an NFL team.
