November and December 2006 and January 2007 might be the best time; after Jan. things get hot. Mumbai (formerly Bombay) is a very cosmopolitan palce and would have most of what you are looking for. If you set up a regular business arrangement with a shop or supplier, you can get things cheaper. There are shops which specialize in Indian arts, crafts, clothes, which you can find through Internet research. Bangalore in South India is a computer hub, a major city, cool because of its altitude, and is sure to have plenty of shops. And Chennai, formerly Madras, will be good for woven textiles and handloom products. You can probably buy a plane ticket which takes you to all those places or you may wish to concentrate your time in one city. If you do not find a supplier before you leave, you are bound to find one or several once you get there. The Government, federal and state, operates several of the shops you are looking for and prices in them are I believe fixed and reasonable. Try to negotiate your way through Indian websites, including that of the Department of Tourism of the Government of India. You may wish to pay a visit to the Indian Consulate nearest you. You will need a visa. Best wishes.

Yes, there is the best market in Mumbai, and the small town near Mumbai is Pune, you can get some really good stuff for your store there. There is a transporting company who can take you in Mumbai and help you get the best stuff, you can contact them for future needs, name is Habibi travels, I trust them, they can even take you to New Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal) shop some good stuff like the skirts and the beautiful handbags from Rajasthan.

Contact number for Habibi is 919823047717.

I hope it helps.
