Put it all in the bank, then seek out a trustworthy accountant to help me plan it out smartly. I would include ways to invest some, give away some, and of course, spend some. My family would be set for life, and I would help out some co-workers.
Above and beyond that, I would set up a foundation for qualifying poor people for limited grants, whereas they could apply and if criteria is met, they would receive up to $2,000 for personal use, or up to $5,000 for a down payment on a home.

Giving to charity is a good thing... but Instead of giving to charity I would go on a search to find people who's lifes would really change for the better by getting money, and then share with them. That way I KNOW the money would be going to where it was needed.
Charities make so much "non profit" profit, its not funny. Infact... its embarrasingly disapointing.
A great idea would be to talk a TV station into making a reality program out of it. Instead of calling it "who wants to be a millionare" we could call it "Who NEEDS to be a millionare" or... something else catchy. Then you go step by step into peoples lives, see what crisises they have to deal with (debt, kids, illness etc) and at the end pick 4 other people to share the 10 mil with. :D I could live with just 2 million. I'd still work though. Oh and of course you'd get more $$ from royalties if the show was a sucess. :P

I would start my own charity and put on running races to benefit charities. I would also give a lot away to my family and friends, who are struggeling to make it these days. I would use it to go back to school...these days you need it to get a higher degree without going in major debt.

Susan G. Komen, and create a scholarship for average americans to go to college. Really messed up how you have to be some crazy ethnicity or good at basketball or have kids to go to school and get it paid for. Why do they want to help out everyone but your average american?
Then I would buy a house and travel the world!

I live in the U.S.
I would buy a huge plot of land in another country(Italy, Australia, France etc...) then I would build my dream house. After that I would start investing it, so I would make even more.
