Well, there isn't really an unlimited market of MAC-compatable software in the ways of parental blocks and whatnot, but you may look into programs such as Regristry Booster and Ad-Aware SE which can keep pop-up generating programs and spyware off of your machine.
Also, you may want to look at your browser's settings and see if you can block specific sites or perhapes any sites featuring certain keywords. This option will protect other users of your computer from the sites, but will not do anything if you already have problems with ads popping up. And if your browser doesn't let you establish parental controls then you perhapes need to ban otheres from accessing your machine and put yourself on the honor system to avoid these sites.
The best course of action is to take both suggestions and look into them. Good luck.

Mac ahahahah there is no such thing called free stuff available for mac but you can still block using Firewall device
