courts thinks so. Hearsay rules make it probable that a child's disclosure will not be heard by a court of law and all allegations are hearsay unless they meet the five rules, outside the exception rule. The next time you think your child is safe from having to visit with their parent who they say has touched them in this way, think again.

Good question and leaves a lot of debate and varying answers.
In this day and age I am not sure what some of our courts are thinking of with how they rule on sexual abuse to a minor.
I do not feel it is wise for unsupervised visits when there has been crediable evidence.
This is putting the child right back into harms way.
I guess allwe can do is hope our court system wakes up.

I would say "no". Open and honest communication between the other parent and the child is a must. The child should be able to visit the other parent if the child truly wants to, but some kind of supervision would make me feel better if I was the concerned parent myself.

This is a loaded question.

Youve used the term "ACCUSED". Have you ever met someone accused of a crime they didnt comit? It happens regularly.... Occassionally, children fabricate stories, especially at the behest of one angry parent, who implants the false notion of child abuse...and the child is just trying to please that parent, so they go along with it, not understanding the terrible consequences... Look at the four responses above - as far as those people are concerned, this person is GUILTY of something they have only be accused of! What happened to innocent UNTIL PROVEN guilty??? Should you be guilty until you can prove your innocence?

So, should someone ACCUSED be allowed unsupervised visits? Why not? Should someone CONVICTED of it be allowed unsupervised visits? Id have to agree with you there...

absolutely not! only a pea-brain would think that's ok. if it HAS to happen for god only knows what reason, then the parent who got custody & an officer should be present until the visit is over. even if the child wants to visit & the offender is getting therapy, unsupervised visits is a very bad idea.

This is a very tough one, in my opinion, the abusive parent should not be graned visitation rights, the child may not want to see him/her again! plus, if a visit is erquired for whatever reason, then there should be a police officer supervising the whole ordeal.

NO! I am concerned that even WITH supervision it would still be traumatic for the child.

Outside of the child crying wolf, which in most cases is not the way it is, the welfare of the child should be the most important thing.

I have touched my childrens genitals everytime I have cleaned them, checked for an injury or had to care for them when they were too ill or weak from throwing up and crapping all over themselves. What is that saying about a parent?

I am talking about older children who were extremely ill...

I'm assuming your talking about an older child because I have to touch my 4 month old's genitals when I bathe him to get them clean. Wonder if someone will try to take him away.....

Being accused of doing something is not the same as having done it.

NEVER! Someone who touches a child in anyway, should be burned alive!
