I think that Montreal now has a much better chance with Samsonov, Nashville with Dumont, and well Pittsburgh should do better now wil Malkin and Crosy.....

Nashiville looks good yes but not after the Dumont he is over paid and the Habs did the right thing on not signing him. Dumont has a 54 pts career high and an average of maybe 28 to 30 pts a season not worth $2.9 million in my book.

the Flames with the pick up on Tanguay is a great deal and will help them big time up front, as you no they have no problems in nets. with Tanguay their I could see Iginla with over 50 goals and maybe win the Art Ross as top scorer in the league.

as for my team the Habs we are looking great, with the pick up of Samsanov and Johnson, Koivu has been skating for the last 4 weeks and his eye is looking great. and if Huet is as hot as he was last season then the Habs will be a very dangerous team to play againts. like i always say that the Stanley Cup is the hardest Cup to win in any proffesional sports. its about the heart of the players and the game not the money like in american football, baseball and basketball.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Becuase im a flames fan, im going to go with Tanguay. The one area the Flames really neede Imporvement on was scoring. They did have 5 20+ goal scorers last year, for the first time in ten years, but still had the lowest goals scored among the league, Iginla cant do it all by himself.
Most everyone would agree Pronger was the best deal, but the ducks already had a pretty good blueline last year, they didnt need to make any imporvments there, thjats why i went with Tanguay, it is by far one of the best IMPROVMENT deals over the summer.Luongo is another as was Raycroft.
Just a little side note to what Claire 52 said, i agree that Tanguay isnt a leader, i dont think the flames picked up for that reason, the Flames already have strong leadership in Iginla,Regehr and Kipper. They simply added what they needed, a proven scorer.

I think Vancouver got the best deal in Luongo. They have struggled for a long time with goaltending, now with Luongo they will have a decent chance to make it far into the playoffs. And all they had to give was struggling star Bertuzzi. Anaheim picking up Pronger was also a good move. Pronger and Nidermayer make up the best defence combo in the league. Pittsburgh is going to improve a lot if they can get Malkin signed to play with Crosby.

i think since trading Therodore the canadians will have a better chance regardless he was dead weight but by the same token i also belive that koivu is dead weight as well as was zednick i am so pleased he got traded but i think that as long as koivu is captain the canadiens will not see a stanley cup hopfully bouilloin will make a full recovery if i had to predict who will shine the most in the canadiens i would say ....mabey samsanov could put a fire underneath koivus *** to stand and deliver because as far as i am concerned he is not worth his pay check and we are stuck with him now the only reason they kept him is because he is acancer survivor and montrealers are attached to him i dont have that sentimentality problem i want the cup period....as far as the other teams are concerned i could care less im a habs fan and thats all there is too it but i will say that as far as crosby goes people were too quick to deem him the second coming i mean cmon hes just a kid and its too much pressure which is why they didnt make it too the playoffs he is expected to carry the whole team and on top of all that one of the best players ever (mario lemieux)signs his pay cheak i think that poor kids gonna buckle under the pressure.whatever happens bob gainey has his work cut out for him and i wish him luck but he shoulve traded koivu for a more dynamic player i predict he will live to regret keeping him ....sorry if youre a fan of koivus but as a montrealer and avid habs fan i wish him gone

I think Minnesota did very well and they seem to be sticking to a plan. I think the team management is very sensible and committed to a plan. Same for Vancouver although I am not completely sold on Luongo, he is the catalyst that will determine how well the Canucks do this season. The Penguins have gotten some very good players but they lack depth to be a consistent winner. In a few years they will be making headlines. The Canucks are the sleeper team this year.

Luongo in Vancouver was really needed. Goaltending has been their biggest hole for a long time. But I think the biggest bang for the buck is Dumont in Nashville. Everyone else dealt this summer was for big bucks it seemed. But Dumont is really good bang for the buck.

Montreal Canadiens got the best deal this season. Adding Samsonov will add great depth to the team. They're going to go deep in the playoffs this year.

I'll have to go with the Ducks picking up Pronger. He was one of the main reasons they couldn't get past Edmonton. Now instead of beating up on Selanne, he will be playing with him. For all you guys who think Tanguay was a good pick up. I'm also an Avs fan. Tanguay has moments of greatness but just can't become a leader. If his line is doing good, he does good, but if his line slumps he doesn't have the character to be a leader and lift them. Don't get me wrong, I like Alex but he's just not a leader.

I think Ducks picking up Pronger will make a HUGE difference, just as it did for Oilers last year.
Canucks picking up Luongo is a great move for them too.
LA Kings did good in the offseason as well.

The Yankees certainly had the best trade deadline pickups, by picking up .300 hitter Bobby Abreu, they solidfied their outfield plus Abreu sees the most pitches per at bat in the major leagues. Cory Lidle will help the rotation and Craig Wilson will be an excellent fill in when Giambi needs a day off
