For my first pregnancy I just couldn't wait I called him at work and asked him to come home for lunch (I had the day off) As soon as he walked through the door I said "Welcome home daddy!"

With our 2nd child (I'm pregnant now) I bought a little kid-type thank you card and filled it out in little kid-type hadnwriting and gave it to my 18 month old son to give to my husband. The card said "Dear Daddy, thank you for making me a big brother!"

Uhh I don't know about text messages, I would probably bug out regardless of planned pregnancy or not if I got a message like that. I like the cake idea though, that's definitly something I would do to announce to the husband and immediate family the good news.

Regardless of how you tell him, CONGRADULATIONS are in order, and I definitly commend you for having a planned pregnancy.

Not sure.

Ideas:
- Start eating deep fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches, or other "crazy" pregnant-women foods. Start seriously increasing your calcium intake so that you have a lower risk of earlier onset osteoporosis. You can get more from the right pills than you can from milk, oh, and be careful about eating any food including milk, or meat or anything else that is make with hormones that could affect your baby. You need to be sure to balance eating so you feed two cause you are eating for two, but not too much.
- Have morning sickness, and in the afternoon be fine.
- Start shopping for maternity clothes, baby clothes, crib, diapers & formula. Start going wearing baggier clothes around the house.
- Get a few books like "what to expect when you're expecting, and read them while he is around"
- Invite him to help you with Lamaze class.
- Go on a health kick, make and eat very very healthy foods, and say its for the baby. Quit any habits like smoking, drinking, or late-night partying that might in any way not work with the baby.
- Get a home pregnancy test, use it, and ask him to help you interpret the results.
- When it happens, tell him that you missed your period.
- Check out your local midwife, and ask about birthing centers where you can safely plan your own delivery including who is there, music, candles, etc.. and still have a doctor nearby in case theres any problems.
- Start getting image insecurities and lashing out at him because you feel fat, and have to deal with it for 40 weeks.
- Call and talk to all of your and all of his female relatives and tell them. Ask them how they told their men, and maybe you can find something that works for how to tell him, or the grapevine could tell him too.
- Buy a shirt with "Im pregnant, you're the father" on it, and wear it around the house.
- Get one of those "baby on board" hanging signs and put it in your car.

Congratulations and good luck.

OK, this is what i want to do.

All men love to eat right!

Well, make a dinner .

Here's the menu:

Baby back ribs
Baby Carrots
Baby Potatoes
Baby Asparugus
Baby Corns

and for desert: Baby Cheese Cake.

About half way through dinner ask your husband what all the things on his dinner plate have in common.!?

He'll say if he hasn't figured out already. If he doesnt get it name the items served for dinner. Ask him what all the names have in common and slightly rub your belly.

Have fun!
And Congrats mommy!

Go away for 8 or 9 months and return with the baby. That will be a great and funny way to break it to him.
