I either stop on the way or usually walk to the gas station with my jerry can on the way home

depends, I usually get gas inbetween trips that way i dont have to worry about being late or rushing either way. I rarely wait until i need gas to get it, I take such a punch in the wallet when I fill up that I keep it above 3/4 of a tank at all times.

On the ride home. I never thought about it before now but it's probably a subconscious reaction to my ability to go home being more important than my ability to go to work.
