There's not really an answer, other than that you are right. Even the idea that "Communism looks good on paper, but in reality does't work" is at least suspect. Governments that support a communist economic system (China no more has a communistic government than the US has a capitalistic government, corruption and bribery notwithstanding) have *historically* been dictatorial, which is regarded by most people as evil, but it doesn't necessarily have to be this way. People that have an inkling of what they are talking about will say that communism is inherently evil because of the percieved fact that you cannot become a success. They then denounce many US programs as communist (more properly socialist, i think, though i have never had explained to my satisfaction what the difference is), denouncing what they call "wealth redistribution," which is exactly what it sounds like. The perception is that those that "work hard" for their money are forced to give it to those who have worked "less hard."

Yes, there can be good politicans and there can be bad politicians. What's important is how far the system of government would allow a bad politcian to go. England's queen doesn't have any real political power these days, so no matter how evil she gets, it will still be Parliament making all the decisions.
The lack of democracy in a nation allows bad politicians to go very far. Most of the bad kings of the past were only able to make bad decisions because they had the power and the people didn't. The same is true of communism. If you had a democratic communist state, then their leaders would be less likely to take advantage of the people.

Communism is literally an economic model, not a government form because it doesn't inherently include any provisions for how leaders are chosen or how laws are decided.
Most recent national attempts at communism have been done by totalitarian regimes, fascist or dictatorships, because such top-down control was the only way to implement the economic model on a national scale.
Communism (as an economic model) can theoretically function just as well in a pure democracy, or a democratic republic. The problem is, there is a tendency of the people in power (majority, or elected) to take more for themselves at the expense of others, which is in direct opposition to the community-equality goals of communism.
So, to answer your implied question, the reason that people associate communism with evil govt is because all large-scale recent attempts have been both totalitarian and largely failures.

Communism is actual the proper type of authorities. If there have been a organic communist society no individual would flow hungry, no individual will be detrimental, and anybody will be knowledgeable. yet on the different hand no individual will be in a position to achieve anymore than his neighbour, no remember how not ordinary he works. there is not something evil about communism except no individual receives ahead as well the guy who regulations, this is once you've a dictatorship. I stay in a province in Canada (Saskatchewan) it really is administered through a socialist authorities it really is really resembling communism. loose well being care, welfare classes, crown organizations (gas, power, telephone coverage, are owned and ran through the authorities) and many taxes. Over 1/2 of all the money we make is going into taxes and we've little or no to teach for it. Our loose well being care is a shaggy dog tale, our roads are falling aside, and lazy bums can make a good living through not operating, in the journey that they artwork the equipment correct. In an proper society Communism will be fantastic, yet regrettably human nature will ruin the equipment. there'll continuously be some that artwork flat out, keep on with the regulations and attempt to achieve then there are those who will attempt to upward push as a lot as they could for not something and it is really available in a communist society. So in no way is communism evil yet i don't believe of there'll ever be a completely functioning communist society.

You're absolutely right. Commuinism is not evil. No form of government is evil. Its the leaders that misuse the power given them. Our forefathers did not want this country to be a democracy when they were signing that big constitution. They were afraid of what would happen if the government had that much power, but they let it slide because thats what the people wanted. And now here we are, a democracy in moral ruin with an overpowerful government. It was the cold war that demonized communism, saying that china and russia evil red communist, and millions of Americans were imprisoned just for being communist. the word is an insult now. Its disgraceful our country has gotten to be so one minded.

I suppose that if you could start with a totally vacant, ownerless piece of land, announce that it will be populated with people who desire communist governing, and then move to make it happen, such an experiment could be deemed acceptable. Anywhere else, communism is wrong because some percentage of the people will not want it and will, nonetheless, have their property and rights taken from them to serve the "greater good" of the people. Some would say our country is moving in that direction now, and that this is why there is such opposition to our government telling its citizens what they can and cannot do with their own property. Liberal Democrats generally believe more government control and more government programs in our lives is a good thing. They believe government programs can help those less fortunate. These beliefs are probably what are behind any assertions you've heard that Democrats are communists. Conservatives, on the other hand, generally believe that government programs often hinder personal growth and success, and that many people learn to rely on government programs (handouts) for sustinence rather than harness their own abilities and intellect to make their way. The freedom we have in this country to dream and work towards our dreams is priceless. In a communist society, such dreams would be pointless, and any attempt to realize one's own personal goals is considered to be harmful to the community.

Communists are considered evil because we were fed that propoganda ever since the Soviet union came into being. Communism is no more or less just another form of government that failed. Your right we don't call a Monarchy evil even though we did during the revolutionary war. What ever government opposes us becomes evil now it is Islamic run governments turn in the evil bag.

I think communism was a failed system because of the concentration of power at the top, people can't help but look after their own self interests. It also creates economic imbalances as the central directiveness of it does not account for individual tastes and societal trends.
Capitalism with all it's flaws, has provided a higher standard of living to a larger percentage of the world's population than at any time in history.
I think some socialism, in both health care and in the social net, would be a good thing here, communism would not be.
People call Democrats communists because they have poor educations and a limited understanding of the world around them. They are incapable of handling abstract thought and Black and White answers are easier for them to process. Open ended questions cause cognitive dissonance, which they resolve by not dealing with them.

The publisher made that determination, There are a small handful of "Conservative Publishing houses" Therefore the remander are "In Another Camp". Liberals have been denying communist attrocities for decades. One Example Katyn in Poland. The area was held by both sides during the War By Germany and Russia, American Publishing Companies Claimed it was a German Massacre of the Polish Intelligencia. Poland and KGB Archives told a different Story. Liberals were responsible for the Genocide in Rwanda and Cambodia and That story is spun. Communisim killed more people in the last century than Fascisim but that gets overlooked also. Stalin Killed 32 million Ukrainians and the NYT sang the praises of Joe Stalin. As it sings the praises of Fidel and Hugo. It is the source of publishing that shapes your view.

Communism itself as a doctrine and philosophy is not evil. It is every government which has operated a communist state which has managed to make it so.
Thats why communism cannot work. People have to run it, and once you have people in a position of power in a society where all are supposed to be equal, its broken.
