What is the significance of his death on that day AND the reason as to why the store had all the lamps lit, all music boxes opened, and all the clocks striking an infinite hour? Is there symbolism here?

You can never be quite sure what Marquez is after with his symbolism, but All Soul's Day is a big deal in Latin American Countries, where it's called Dio de los muertos, or day of the dead. The lamps and music boxes may be a nod to the celebrations held in honor of dead family members, and the huge parties held in cemetaries. The music boxes could be because Crespi was the music teacher (I think.)

All Souls' day here is celebrated around the same as halloween. The meaning of it is that the living ones honour the ones that are gone, and its a christian celebration [it doesnt really looks like celebration, just all teh people go to the graveyard, puts on a lot of flowers and candles - and we, all the teens, go to the graveyard at night because it looks really amazing then - million of candles.. Anywayz]. So, in my opinion, one could choose to die on this day just because its 1) romantic; 2) could there be a better day to day as the day of the dead?

The reason of having everything on in his store in my opinion is just showing to Amaranta his.. I couldnt say love, but just.. attachment, which is stronger than love sometimes.. He was romantic after all, so when dying its not only his corpse that he wanted to leave for her, and all things working was a sign to her that either its her fault or that he was thinking about her, even when dying.
