Before you go rushing off to take any kind of medication, what kind of workouts are you doing? What is your calorie count like? How long have you been on this routine?

Just keep this in mind, if you're putting on muscle, muscle weighs more than fat does. You could be burning fat and replacing it with muscle and it'll look like you're either gaining or not losing weight.

If you're not eating enough calories the body will go into starvation mode and you won't lose weight either.

Don't reply solely on your scale. See a fitness expert at your gym and have them do a body fat analysis, that'll give you better results then just the scale alone as you'll know how much of the weight is fat and how much is muscle.

If you're working out an hour a day and watching your calories, you may be building muscle and losing fat at the same time. Since muscle weighs more than fat, you can actually be losing fat and gaining weight.

Without knowing more about your exercise regimen and your diet, it's hard to give more advice. But it sounds like you're on the right track.

continue your routine.
maybe your calorie intake is not low enough.
for one day, count the calories you eat.
reduce that number by 500.
(for example 2000, to 1500) and see how that goes.
progress to loose weight is healthy in small doses.
loosing 6 poiunds in a month is healthy.
do not look so much at the numbers on the scale,
but more of how you feel and how clothes fit you.
good luck :) and stay healthy!

Calorie intake isn't enough. Try going to your doctor and asking for something like Lipitor, this will help. Your doctor can get you to nutrition classes where you can learn about dieting tips that aren't always in books, and what will work best for your body type, and with your family history.
