Flyleaf's song "Fully Alive" is about a woman named Layla. I heard through the rumor mill that Layla was an actual person, and had been married to someone famous who was abusing her. So here's my question: Who is she?

Actually, an article was written about this by Blabbermouth on August 28th of this year.

Here's the details:

"FLYLEAF's second single, "Fully Alive", is a very personal song for lead singer Lacey Mosley. Although she wouldn't go into detail, Mosley told Launch that the tune is about a close friend's longtime battle against illness. "It's about the singer for TRUST COMPANY, Kevin (Palmer), his wife Layla," she said. "She's an awesome person, and you would never guess in a million years that she has the struggle that she has. Kinda changed my perspective about the way that I complain about things, the way that I wake up sad for no reason, and then she wakes up just glad to wake up."

Although TRUST COMPANY broke up earlier this year, Kevin and Layla Palmer currently play in a band called AMITY LANE."

Is this a remade song by Derek & The Dominos a.k.a. Eric Clapton? It certainly sounds like the 1970 song Layla, which is about Eric Clapton falling in love with Beatle George Harrison's wife, Patti Boyd Harrison. Clapton and George Harrison were friends and George Harrison was really bad to his wife and Clapton was there for her and they fell in love. She divorced George Harrison. The words kinda tell the story. My favorite Eric Clapton song. Layla is some code for Patti.
