my friend is trying to talk me into getting a ipaq, but what exactly is it?! something like a handheld computer right?? and what does it do?

It's a handheld computer made by Compaq (now a part of HP) running Windows CE:

It's a PDA (personal digital assistant) made by HP (formerly Compaq).

If you don't know what one is, i doubt you need one :-)
