Both CD playback and DVD sound on my Sony laptop is broken up. The video works fine but the sound is bad.?

First check the physical connectivity.. then try to check the latest updates for your sound card

try lowering the volumes of the comp first. then check the volume on the player. sometimes when all the players and comps volumes are to high you'll get a really crappy broken up sound which will irratate the hell out of you.

i own 4 laptops. a sony viao, hp,thinkpad and a toshiba.

if all else fails (you'll probably need a new sound card)
