so he gave it to me.. except his bought it to go with his mac computer so the only way you can charge it is through the computer... can i buy a seperate charger for it.. or am i all out of luck?

Yes, there are many chargers available. To be safest, you should probably buy the official charger from APPLE. If you feel up to it, you can try one of these:

Most of them probably work fine. The Apple one is going to be guaranteed to work, but it is the most expensive of all of them.

You can buy a seperate charger that will plug into an outlet, or one to your computer. Just go to best buy they'll help you or any electronic store.

you can buy a connector cable for about 50 bucks. its worth it.
