It was from the Banana Splits show and a feature called something like "Arabian nights". I don't know the character, but the below link will probably tell you.

It was Arabian Nights in the Banana Splits but Shazzan was a different cartoon featuring a genie which came to life when two kids put two halves of a ring together. And that explains why I have one O level

Arabian knights on banana splits,they used to pull the donkeys tail and he would spin around like a whirl wind.
cant remember the name of the character,
its just come back to me i think he was called bez
