Totally! I'm a team player and my hobbies include working on the ranch and living in semi wilderness.

I'm all about being in the country or the semi wilderness, I love it. Unfortunately, I don't think I would pull my weight on a ranch. I can cook and clean, but I wouldn't be doin any kind of hard manual labor.

I would bet there are some out there. I remember in the late 70's
or 80's that you heard alot about them. I was once asked to join
one somewhere out west , I live in the east, at the time I was
just starting out on my own. At the time, I had other plans , so the
answer was no back then. Now , semi wilderness ? I do not
think so.

wish you would've given more details... Sounds interesting. wondering how long you will do this? What area it is in, thinking of what the weather would be like....Will you be working with cattle?
I'm not really familiar with the word communers.....
1. to converse or talk together, usually with profound intensity, intimacy, etc.; interchange thoughts or feelings.
2. to be in intimate communication or rapport: to commune with nature.
–noun 3. interchange of ideas or sentiments.
To be in a state of intimate, heightened sensitivity and receptivity, as with one's surroundings: hikers communing with nature.
To receive the Eucharist.
[Middle English comunen, to have common dealings with, converse, from Old French communer, to make common, share
I think I would be for it. But I think I would also miss civilization, as that is what I am accustomed to. But when I was young I grew up in a small town and we did have farm animals and did chores. We also went out camping and spent time outside quite often.
I hope you enjoy your experience.

I'm for it because....if it's the wilderness, a ranch would help the ecosystem.

It's really up to you. If that's a lifestyle you crave, I'm sure it's out there for you. I know communes still exist. Where do you live?

It is a wonderful concept, but you really have to know your basics...you have to learn as much as you can about the common knowledge our ancestors had for working land and have the stamina to live without the ''creature comforts''. If you can do it successfully, hon, hats off to you!
