I'm doing a thesis and my advisor asks me this question. My thesis is on ethnic humor and how it dissipates conflict. He said it's like the question, What is anti-Semitism?

A Jewish joke has got to be told by a Jewish person (in any other case it would sound racist and un-Jewish), and it includes self- humor, irony and sarcasm.

When a joke relate to an ethnic groups behavior, that is when you can categorize the joke. (Jewish Joke etc.) Here is an example:
A black person and a Jew died and went up to heaven. St.Peter met them at the Golden gate door. As the black guy was first in line, St.Peter said to him: Before you enter I'll give you one wish, what do you want? Give me $10000,- , said the black man. St.Peter did and in he went. Next it was the Jews turn. St.Peter told him the same thing and asked him what he wanted. " give me for about a 100 bucks in cheap jewlery and show me where that ****** went", replied the jew.

A jewish joke has to be completely devoid of any god damn humor, and has to end in oy.
