I live in the Dallas area and am a nursury specialist. Although you can get pansies already, it is WAY!!! to hot to plant them. They will last the entire winter looking beautiful if you wait until the temperature doesnt really get over 75 degrees. If you absolutly want to plant them now, you can try watering them about 3 or 4 times a day but the sun is just so hot and bright right now the petals and leaves are going to easily fry.

Well we here in Wisconsin think that if they aren't bothering you you should just leave them be. But I understand if they keep marching in their parades and yelling about being able to get married like normal folks, you might want to bury them in the ground. But as to your question, depends on how big of a hole you need to dig. I am not much for digging big holes when is hot out, you might want to wait until after dark that way it will be a lot more cool out and chances of being seen burying the body of the pansy are really reduces. Good luck oh and if you are in Texas you might want to bury them good and deep so the coyotes don't dig 'em up.

Pansies die if the average temperature is over 80 degrees. Wait till it cools off a little more.

They are certainly already available, but I would wait, we could have some more 100+ weather, which isn't good for them. Then you can get fresher, healthier plants. I usually plant in late September or early October and live in Okla.

Pansies like cooler weather. They look their best when its cooler out rather then now when its still so hot.
