Lock him in the garage with the car running and only feed him boiled back meat and some greasy bread (and call it "pudding") and let him pretend he is in Europe. That's what my dad did to me, and I hated Europe. My trip to Indiastan was much better.

He is only 11 years old.Are you Crazy!? No do not allow him to go. But, if he has good grades through Jr. high and high school it would be a great graduation gift for high school. Right now he is way too young and it might be illegal for a child that age to be alone.

PS: There are more languages spoken in Europe than french.

You really can not expect an 11 year old to safely navigate his way around in Europe. As others have stated it would make a great high school graduation gift.

I would not tell him no, rather state that he can go but it will have to be after he finishes high school. Dont turn it into a war, keep it positive so he still has hope of going.

it is a good idea to get him french lessons. But a good majority in Europe speak english anyway. As far as sending your 11 year old overseas to see a freind (hehe, if the met on the Internet especially), ARE YOU NUTTY OR SOMETHING ?

:)

Hes 11! I wouldnt let my son go over there untill they are atleast 16, or unless I'm going with him or some one know very well goes with him. In France, Germany, or where ever they go most people speak french, greman and english. If you want to invest in the lesson go a head, it good to have if you go over there.

hes too young to go to europe alone. or with a young friend. go with him and get an interpretor. never send a child overseas alone. rench lessons would be good but not all countries in europe speak french only france.

I don't think 11 year olds are allowed to go on a plane by themselves. You can either accompany him and his friend, or maybe you can take them somewhere near where you live.
