1) I think it was advertised on tv. Don't know what it's called. I think it was the Best of Johnny Cash but I don't know.
2) I found out on Wikipedia that he had loads of albums, (I don't really know much) so do you recommend any... um, good ones?

Thanks.

Ok, gosh there's so many, but if you are new to Cash's Music I guess I'll recommend some of the more well known ones. "Folsom Prison", "Live at San Quentin", any of the 5 American Recording Cds produced by Rick Ruben, The new set called Johnny Cash "The Legend" has had good ratings, (his earliest music) The Sun Recordings, and my personal favorite "Orange Blossom Special". Johnny is one of a kind, I am glad you are interested in listening to his music. Enjoy.

Probably best to get a best of, (try Ring of Fire: The legend of Johnny Cash (2005), cheap on Amazon.co.uk at the mo)which will cover most of his years.
Then if you decide you still like him, go and get some more of his albums. For example if you like his later stuff get the American Recordings (produced by Rick Rubin). If you like his earlier stuff try "The best of the Legendary Sun Recordings" which is 3 albums for the price of one. Utter Class

I think the advertised greatest hits was called the Essential Johnny Cash.
Live at San Quentin is good.

"Live At Folsom Prison" is brilliant. Some of his last work was also some of his best, so check out the "American Recordings" series.

There are a million and one greatest hits packages out there, some of which are fairly shoddy. Ask the people in the store which ones they'd recommend and for his early stuff try one of the Sun Records compilations.

Get any one of his double "best of.." CDs... and also get "The man comes around": his last CD with great covers in Johnny Cash style.
