Sounds like your sink doesn't have a trap and your getting sewage gasses in your bathroom.
Traps are the U that connect the drain to your house draining. This "U" holds water in the bottom that acts as a plug to prevent gasses from coming out of the drain.
If you don't have a "Trap" that is technically illegal - if you DO have one, make sure that it is indeed installed correctly and pipes haven't moved, burst or have leaks.
If you do have a trap, turn on the water for a few minutes, let it settle and put paper towels under the trap. Come back in a few minutes and see if there wet - if so your trap is leaking and needs to be fixed/replaced.
If none of that works you may just not be using the sink enough that your getting too much microbes and bacteria in the trap that you need to run some drain-o or detach the trap and clean out the pipes.

Place bucket under 'trap'(that's the 'u' shaped pipe. Remove trap.
Keep lost jewelry and clean out trap. Run brush through from sink top side(see that bucket filled with... gunk?).
Replace trap(and pipe if metal and the only thing holding it together was the gunk). Run water... better now? Remove and dump bucket... now smells better?
Or try adding a little baking soda(will 'neutralize smell) or add a little chlorine(that's bleach)(tablespoon) that'll kill the bacteria that's having a party down there. Too much bleach will kill the party in the sump/ cesspool and you WANT them partying there!
Also add a teaspoon to overflow(that little hole near top of sink).
Don't forget shower/tub as the have the same things(not I didn't mean odor- but possible- I meant drain and overflow(hidden under switch if combo))
Hope that wasn' t too much info- let me know

Undo the trap under the sink and clean it out. Then flush the sink with water after you reinstall the trap.
