Kids are so fat and lazy today. If you want to decrease the rate of obesity, kick the kids off the computer and Xbox and make them play outside. Man. it is so annoying and sad.

There are too many people wandering around that are like some of the really strange people asking questions on this sight--it isn't safe to just let your kids roam the neighborhood the way we did when we were kids. Still, I do push my kids out to our backyard to jump on the trampoline or jump rope or anything that gets them moving. Too much time staring at a screen isn't good for any of us.

There are several reasons for this....
1) yes, I agree kids to day are lazy... but
2) there are more crazy people out there now- a- days that want to steal children and want to do horrible things to them, every mother's worry!
3) More mother's work out side of the home than "back in the day" so by the time we finally get home the idea of spending hours playing out doors then coming in a hurrying to cook, clean, bathe the kids, get things set for the next morning, etc. is really over whelming ..... so unfortunately something has got to give!
My husband and I try top give our daughter as much out door play time as we can (as children we loved playing outdoors) but being that she's only 2 and needs constant supervision the allotted time won't increase 'till she can be a little more on her own.
I you would like to offer some assistance just let me know and you can watch her while I do the everyday chores! :)

I agree with you in part....however, some parents are so scared
of the Idea that some pervert will come along and walk off with
their kid that they encourage their kids to stay indoors.who can blame them?I personally witnessed an attemped kidnapping up
the street from where I was staying. the perv. tried to get the
little girl in his car from the bus stop, her mother was there, she
and the guy were actually haveing a tug of war with the child.mom
won the perv drove off..pretty darn scary..in broad daylight at a
school bus stop, with parents right there.

It’s very sad indeed. I spent most of my childhood outside exploring and using my imagination. A lot of the kids today are missing out on so much. When they are older, they will have memories of video games, cell phones and TV shows. How pathetic.

The answer is TV, computers, video games... Anything with a screen on it is more attractive to them know than doing sports. North-American society is to blame, all you guys do is buy stuff!

No doubt! When I was a kid, we were always out on our bicycles, ridin' around on the ravine paths, throwin' rocks at squirrels and sh!t. Of course, when I was a kid, there were 4 TV stations, no such thing as cable, video games and cell phones. Life ROCKED!!!

i agree with u.....nowadays kids are indulged in only indoor games, mainly they are addicted to computers and video games...they have forgotten the fun of enjoying life outside in fresh air.
i feel each parent should set a time limit for their children to spend their time outside in playing and insist them on joining clubs or groups for outdoor games.....

You answered your own question. Video games. TV. Parents work so they aren't there to yell "GO OUT AND PLAY" like my mom was!

You said it best and also I think parents are way overprotective of their kids today, they don't want them to get scrapes, bruises or sunburned.
