Other really common abbreviations you may see online:

OP--original poster
ROF--rolling on floor; ROFL--rolling on floor, laughing
LMAO--laughing my *** off
(g), (s), ---- indicates "grin" or "smile", used quite a bit to make SURE readers are aware OP is using sarcasm or irony, because voice tone/facial expressions cannot be read
YMMV--your mileage may vary
IMO--in my opinion; IMHO, in my humble opinion
OTOH--on the other hand
BTW--by the way
IIRC--if I remember correctly
FYI--for your information
FBI----for the government's information (OK, **that's** a joke)

One that's seen on Y/A's (Yahoo Answers) bulletin board comments is CAMO---"click and move on", meaning "if you don't LIKE X, don't waste a lot of time, just...."

Of course, you may see "IM-speak" (instant messaging: text-message-style abbreviations) in some questions---like "how R U doing?". You're probably best off keeping this to a minimum, though--if people have to "translate" what you mean, why should they bother to answer you?

Hope this helps
