You would need to adapt it into a screenplay first. You could either take a course to learn how to do this, look on the BBC website for the correct format and give it a go yourself (www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom) or you could send it to a screenplay writer and see if they will adapt it for you.
Good luck!

A good book is "Writers Market"
Also, you send a brief summary of the book, what the plot is based on, etc. but not the entire book unless it is requested. Usually you do one source at a time and put "If I do not hear from you within 15 days of your receipt of this letter I will start submitting inquiries to other sources." By doing this you will avoid the problem of having your inquiry tied up for months on end. You COULD submit to a hundred places at once but then that is sometimes considered an etiquette problem in the business. Start with the biggest and busiest firms. Include a brief bio on yourself including any published books or major publication articles.

Now that you have done the difficult bit and got your novel published you should get an agent, which you should now be able to do.
The first thing an agent will need to do is look at the terms of your contract with your publisher, which may well affect the film rights and who can offer them.

Write a synopse. When they are interested in your work and you have to go and confront the board. You'll have to be able to tell your story in 10 seconds. Do it, send it... You've already got a No, all they can say is Yes.You've took the courage with your book, now do the same with the Story. Good luck and I'm looking forward in seeing your story on the big screen

If you are a published author you have your agent do the selling. If you published it yourself, get an agent. If you are BSing, I suggest you purchase Michael J. Strazynskie's book on script writing.

You can send it to an agent who works with placing books and movie scripts or you can send it to an executive producer of a movie production company.
