Yes, I looked into becoming a realtor a few years ago. You have to take real estate classes, and then become a certified realtor (take a test). I decided that I didn't want to spend the money on the classes with a career that I would have to work on the weekends for. I am now going to hopefully be a teacher (taking my certification test in November) and will get weekends & summers off......can't wait! =)

Check with your state, but in Illinois you used to be able to just take the test if you had a bachelor's degree in certain majors. But they passed a law now requiring everyone to take the course. You do not have to be a Realtor to invest in and/or sell properties. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

In my state you need something like 20-30 hours of classroom training before you can sit for the licensing exam. Once you're licensed you have a minimum number of class hours you have to take annually to keep your license active. I took my pre-licensing study as a quarter class at a community college.
