Is there a way to play a ps1 game on the ps2 and tinker with the graphics to improve on them?
I have Resident Evil 2 for the ps1 and play it on the ps2. I've heard that you can improve the graphics of ps1 games on this console. Is this true, and if so how do I do this?

Technically you're meant to be able to. What you do is turn on the PS2 with no disc in it. Go to the options screen, go to Playstation driver and enter it. Turn on Smooth Textured mapping (or something like that), and theoretically when you load up the game it should play faster, load faster and look better.
Most of the time when I do this, it just makes the game incredibly jerky. It WILL NOT MAKE YOUR GAME LOOK LIKE A PS2 GAME. Hopefully when they do the same for PS2 on a PS3 it should work better.

Like all things game-related, you cannot take PS1 games made to a certain bit-rate i.e. resolution and make it "better". However, as mentioned above, the PS2 does have an ability to use the textures to create more smooth edges on PS1/2 games. Do the abforementioned process above to activate it. However, this effect varies depending upon what games you play. The way a game is made is the resolution and very little more can be done to improve it beyond it's maximum image quality when made.

Yes, you can play your PS1 games on your PS2 and also use your PS memory card as well. The only thing that you can't do is use a GameShark for PS1 games on a PS2. (That's if you use the GS)

Improving the graphics isn't prossible, but you can play any games made by Sony, other than the PsP, made before the current system. The PS3 is ALSO going to have the built-in system playback feature, meaning you won't need a 90 dollar hard drive to play games made before it's time(hint to all the Xbox fans about the 360). Hope this answered your question. Have fun!

As the person above me has said, but a warning

Don't play FF VII with the improved settings, as everything goes wrong - jerky, interface goes blurry/dissapears - try it with a game, if it works, then play it with smoother on

well. its just like if you pop in a GBA game in a nintendo ds it will clear up the graphics and make it sharper. you dont need to do anything excpet pop your disk in. your ps2 will make changes in graphics when its loading.

hope that works!

You can certainly play them but I don't think you can improve the graphics.

You can, but I found that I can't save any of them, so if you get halfway through a game and want to save your progress, you mightn't be a able to.

((If anyone knows how I can save please Email me))
