Yes, I agree with the person who said sulfur, it smells like rotten eggs, or it can be the hose.
Its too bad we have people like the one who responded first on the board.

Do you have well water or city water? If you have a well, do you have an aerator? Is it working correctly? Some well water contains hydrogen sulfide and smells like rotten eggs. Disconnect the water going to your washer and turn on the spiggot, then smell the water.

if you live on a house with well water and the pipes are old, water stays in the pipes and stagnates, causing that kind of odor, or if you live in an area that does not treat your local water, the water in your pipe also stagnates. the smell could also be caused by the mineral in your water. i have this problem and it is usually only with the cold water. there isn't much you can do about it, except maybe a water filter or softener, at the point where the water enters your home.

Most likely the cause is an unvented or poorly vented sewer pipe. A plumber should be able to isolate where the line needs to be vented. Unless you have a good knowledge of plunbing this isnt something you want to do on your own.

Either your line is crossed with the sewer or all the water isn't leaving the machine and it's sitting and getting fowl
