I just purchased a Dell Laptop, I also have a desktop with a Verizon Modem/Router. I am trying to connect to the internet but it states that Windows is not currently managing this network When I open the Wireless Network connection there is nothing there. I tried refreshing but still no luck. Do I have to install software on the laptop first? I have a second laptop that works fine wirelessly.
I tried going through the wzard but it states that Windows is not currently managing this device.
Thanks

How do I set up my laptop for wireless communications?
Wireless Instructions
Bootup the laptop.
Insert the Wireless card.
The new hardware wizard will prompt you to install the new device just click next.
Choose search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended) Uncheck floppy disk drives make sure CD drives is checked then insert the 98/2000 drivers (Second disk) The first disk contains drivers for 95/NT
It should find the netx500.inf file under the CD ROM drive
Clicknext
When the digital Signature not found do you wish to continue with the installation click yes.
Click finish
Goto the CD and run the setup under the utils folder. (just choose the defaults)
Run the Client Encryption manager (Icon on the desktop) the password is (Cisco)or(Aironet) case sensitive (It should show Wep being disabled)
Under Commands > enter the Wepkey. Wepkey1=Call Health by default it is 40
When Wep key is complete click ok and exit the Client Encryption Manager
RunAironet Client Utility (Icon on the desktop)
Under Commands > Edit Properties > Under System Parameters tab enter SSID1=
Under RF Network tab Check the box to Enable Wep Exit the Aironet client Utility After you get the message your 340 Series is Associated to the access point an example would be 203-C3-18
Make sure under the properties for that Card that it is set for DHCP.
Depending which subnet you are on is where you will get IP. You will only get IP on that subnet unless you specify that you need a roaming IP address. See systems admin or Health net to get specs on which Subnets are setup and where each subnet covers.
AddNWLINK IPX/SPX
