I have a Road King that has cruise control. I also have a Lowrider and a Sportster; both of which have the throttle damper. It's a screw located on the bottom of the throttle housing between the two cable fittings. Turn it forward, the throttle stays open. Quick twist to the rear and it's off. I like that a whole lot better than the electronic cruise control on my King. Much easier; much more dependable. Another thing you might check out is a throttle boss. It's a little ring that slips over the throttle and tightens onto it with screws. It has a tab sticking out that allows you to keep the throttle open with the heel of your palm, allowing you to completely relax your hand. Hope that helps you.

BTW, Harleychick just doesn't know how to use the damper. It's not dangerous if done right.

Blonde? Single too long? We should talk!

As other's have mentioned, all HD's come with a throttle lock. Basically it is a little thumb screw that holds the throttle in place. Also, there is a product called a wrist rocker, which is basically a little thing tha clips onto the thottle with a piece of plastic sticking up so you can rest your wrist on it instead of having to hold the throttle. As far as the tendanitus, may I suggest Amsterdam or Costa Rica?

I have tendonitis in both my wrists and I have a Sportster. When I go on long rides, my hands hurt like crazy. I would not reccomend using the throttle lock on the roads, it is dangerous and should only be used for warming up the bike. You can get a throttle ease which makes it easier on the hands. You can also get a vibrator to make other things easier on the hands!

Sportsters do not have cruise control.

Some folks on the smaller cruisers buy a plastic gadget called "throttle rocker" for $20. It snaps on the throttle and allows you to twist the throttle by pushing with the heel of your hand.

Just like with a car, you don't want to use cruise control or throttle rocker in heavy traffic or on twisty roads.

Check out the '07 sportsters, I've heard that all '07 Harley's have fuel injection, even the sportsters(which is a 1st on sportsters). I believe that all Harleys with fuel injection have electronic cruise control( just like a car). the thumb screw thing was on carburated Harleys.

I don't know about the new sporty's...But I ride an '87 and it has a throttle lock. Somewhat of a "cruise control"...But I only use it on the highways, and not too often.

I have a bmw. They are available w/ factory cruise control.
Also the brakes are mostly power-assisted ABS - easy on the hands but, if you should ever loose power... you will need to squeeze.

Also, I've seen threads w/ people putting cruise on fuel-injected bikes. One guy bought the Audiovox cruise kit from walmart and stuck it on his sportbike.

All Harleys come with a throttle lock, when you go to look at them, its near your right thumb on the handlebars.
