I think that Canada is the best country in the world to live in, and my part of Canada is the best of the best.

This poem says it all ...

Lay of the Last Minstrel (Extract)

Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne'er within him burn'd,
As home his footsteps he hath turn'd,
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour'd, and unsung.

I live on the side of a Cascade volcano, Mt. Shasta, Ca. I own a home on three acres there, which is in the Shasta / Trinity National Forrest.

I know my neighbors and they know me. Everyone helps one another whenever possible. Kids hate it because they never get away with ANYTHING! Parents love it for the same reason.

The area is full of artists, musicians of all types, authors, poets, explorers and seekers. There are also ranchers, farmers, entrepenuers and more than one large employer, including Dannon bottled water works, Crystal Geiser bottled water, and another water bottlery in the planning stages, Sierra Nevada Beer, Union Pacific Rail Road and of course state, county and cities employees. All of this in the largest, and most northerly county in California, Siskiyou, also the least populated, which also has a total of 13 traffic lights. I heard there was a fraffic jam here once, however.

The immediate area is a cultural mixture of Latinos, Italians, Laotian, Viet Namese, African American and just about any other race one can identify. No-one steps on each others toes.

The entire gamut of religion is represented as well, encompassing all, Eastern, Western and hybrids, for lack of better description.

The local economy is strong, even though dependent in large part on tourism. There are enough full time residents to support the local merchants and restauranteurs during the very short "off season".

Crystal clear high mountain lakes, world class skiing facilities, some of the best fishery on the globe, camping, hiking, quaint B&Bs, fine dining and a generally relaxed atmosphere. Low and slow is the way to go.

It's not paradise. Rural areas tend to attract the methamphetamine cooks, purveyors, etc., and there are some busts occasionally. But this poison is literally everywhere.

Best of all, people relocating here are readily welcomed. But, leave your cultural baggage behind. It won't do you any good here, and it will make you stand out like the proverbial sore thumb.

So, I can say I love the place I live and really mean it. I do. I am a fortunate man.

I'm guessing that you mean City and State? I live in a suburb of Detroit and absolutely hate it. I don't like being a negative person, but trying to be honest. Crime is high, jobs are gone and people are rude! It's just an ugly place to live (and that's in the summer) Winters are worse.

I can't stand it Joliet, IL police are corrupt and protect the criminals in our neighborhood. The kids act like the disrespectful animals their parents are raising them to be, People are constantly riding they're not street legal vehicles down our street through my yard. Were surrounded by nothing but riff raff and ignorant @sses where the cops do nothing even if a person threatens your lively hood the Joliet police will threaten to arrest you the person who was threatened. I guess when it comes to Joliet police as long as you have family on the police force you can do whatever you want to whoever you want without getting into trouble. I call my town Joilet (toilet with a J) not Joliet. We are looking to move very soon.

I live in Gran Canaria. Sun all year round with temperatures normally in the 20's C. Duty free so very little tax. Crime is almost no existent.

Couldn't think of a nicer place to live.

I live in a suburb which is fine but the major city that my town borders is not a place that is thriving any longer so that part I do not like.

I can't help but love it, it's pretty rural so I don't feel crowded and I actually know most of my neighbors. Plus my family lives in the area, and I can just go out horseback riding when I want. It just has that old down home feel and I love that.

Cats love the house and dogs love the master. If my love live on the dark side of the Moon, I like to live on the dark side of the Moon.
