On page 77 of the Big Book, it states:
"Our real purpose is to fit ourselves to be of maximum service to God".

Not to stop drinking, not to "carry the message", NO! "To be of maximum service to God", yet they claim not to be religious.

alcoholics anonymous can and does help certain people,
the concept is a good one.of course over the years it has been
corrupted by the prevalence of the "me" attitude of people today.
back in BILLS day if people talked and acted the way they do now
in an A.A.meeting they would have been asked to leave. people
now (not all mind you) believe they can say anything they please
and dont care if there vulgar language offends others.and
regretably many people are sentenced through the courts to
attend these meeting.where they are forced to listen to some of
the foulest language there is.and all the while this program is
supposed to help them fight alcoholic behaviour.I personally
find most of these meetings detremental to any constructive
treatment(not all, mind you)the old saw is well you can go find a
meeting where this kind of behaviour is not allowed..good luck..

I don't agree with you. Admitting powerlessness humbles the person so he can turn to God and get spiritual help. Then he is able to help other alcoholics stay sober.
