I have been in child care for so long I am burnt out and really need a change. I live in a small town with very little jobs and then you have to know someone to get one most of the time. But we do have lots of lawyers and medical offices here. Any suggestions?

For now healthcare seems the place to be. I am a Nursing Student and among my seniors that graduated this past June their avg starting salary was 70K. If you're thinking a BS degree, then maybe nursing is the way to go. But if you dont want to go thru 4 yrs then maybe checkout courses in medical assistant, dental assistant, lab technicians(they seem to be doing well these days).

Check into your local colleges 2 yr degrees - if you want to start making the better money as soon as possible. Check out Respiratory Therapy (they make about $40K to start and only 2 yr schooling), other types of therapist - like physical therapy. There should be several 2 yr programs at your local community college or university. Especially if you are not sure what you want to do and need a better paying job as soon as possible - go into a 2 yr program and decide later if you figure out what it is you want to do.

you should major in something that you like to do. I have an associates degree in Criminal Justice and a Batchelors in Political Scienece. I will be attending Law School soon and should have my Law Degree. I like researching things and helping change the world around me so I chose Law.

I would highly DISCOURAGE a social science degree... aka don't major in political science, anthropology, english, etc.

Go for something technically. If I could do it all over again, I'd go with business.

I'm hoping to go back and earn my MBA in finance, since my undergraduate degree is a BS in political science with a minor in business... aka useless.

Medical fields, architecture, engineering, business, and computer tech. ALL VERY GOOD!
